If students aren’t engaged, they cannot learn. In this age of mouse clicks and touchscreens, the brain responds differently to stimuli. Because society is rapidly changing and many children live in impoverished environments, we must respond to the changes proactively by choosing the most powerful strategies. DARE stands for: D = Dopamine • This neurotransmitter keeps the brain alert and focused. A = Amygdala • This part of the brain is the seat of emotion. R = Reticular Activating System • This part of the brain regulates the amount and type of sensorimotor information that comes into the brain. E = Essentials of life • The amount of sleep, type of food, and exercise people get affect levels of focus and engagement. Even time of day has an effect! This highly engaging, informative workshop gives teachers research and high-impact strategies to engage their students so they can interact with their content at high levels for lasting memory. LeAnn will be modeling the whole process throughout the training.
